Vassilios Mewes

Computational Scientist

Vassili is a Computational Scientist in the Advanced Computing for Nuclear, Particle, and Astrophysics Group in the Science Engagement section, and a member of the ECP ExaStar project, working on hardware accelerated code for neutrino radiation hydrodynamics in supernova simulations.

Prior to joining ORNL, he was at the Center for Computational
Relativity and Gravitation (CCRG) at Rochester Institute of Technology,
where he was he was a postdoctoral research associate and the lead developer of
a new framework for numerical relativity with general relativistic magnetohydrodynamics
in spherical coordinates. He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Valencia (Spain),
working on numerical relativity simulations of self-gravitating tilted accretion disks,
and his M.Sci from the University of Cambridge (UK).
