Bio
Yiyuan Qiao is a R&D Associate Staff at the Building Technologies Research and Integration Center. Her research focuses on thermal energy storage (TES), heat pump systems, and advanced control systems. Prior to joining ORNL in June 2023, she earned her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland in August 2020 and then conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Central Florida (UCF). Her doctoral research concentrated on enhancing heat transfer in TES, developing TES-integrated heat pump systems, and creating a generalized TES heat exchanger modeling tool, employing both experimental and numerical methodologies. At UCF, her postdoctoral work centered on HVAC system analysis and model predictive control.
