Anti Fingerprint Coating

The invention relates to touch screen devices and more specifically to a coating for such devices that eliminates the unsightly condition of fingerprints. This invention may be the touch screen manufacture's "holy grail" that finally allows touch screens to be handled without showing any fingerprints or skin oil smearing. This is accomplished by combining various aspects of ORNL's superhydrophobic coatings technology with off the shelf touch screen glasses (like Corning's gorilla glass) to make an optically clear, rugged and durable optical thin film that exhibits anti-fingerprint properties. Such a optical thin films have obvious commercial applications in many areas, from laser optical windows, to photography cover slips, to the fast growing commercial area of optical touch screens, and more.
