Invention Reference Number

The Flat and Level Analysis Tool (FLAT) is an advanced software platform designed to assess the quality of foundations in real-time during construction. By leveraging laser scanning technology and advanced analytics, FLAT enhances the speed and accuracy of foundation evaluations, ensuring critical components like concrete slabs meet structural requirements efficiently. This innovation addresses construction challenges by facilitating immediate feedback to guide corrections while concrete is still workable, significantly improving project timelines and reducing costs.
Description
FLAT uses laser scanning devices to create a detailed assessment, called a point cloud, of a foundation. This data is processed through machine learning algorithms to detect and analyze deviations in flatness and levelness as small as one-eighth of an inch. Unlike traditional methods that take hours or days to evaluate foundation quality, FLAT provides feedback in under one minute, enabling real-time adjustments. This capability allows skilled workers to correct issues promptly, ensuring that concrete maintains structural integrity and aligns with project specifications before hardening. The integration of artificial intelligence further enhances FLAT’s ability to identify inconsistencies and deliver actionable insights, streamlining the entire construction process.
Benefits
- Immediate foundation feedback, reducing delays and construction errors
- Enhances productivity by enabling real-time corrections while concrete is still workable
- Improves cost efficiency and project timelines by minimizing rework
Applications and Industries
