The invention disclosure discusses charging coil designs that can be utilized as a transformer for plug in electric vehicle (EV) charging, as well as inductive coils for wireless charging. This invention enables providing both inductive wireless and plug in EV charging at the same facility by adding a minimum number of components.

Description

This invention facilitates both inductive wireless and plug-in electric vehicle charging at the same facility with the addition of a minimal number of components. The technology leverages innovative charging coil designs that serve dual functions: they can act as transformers for plug-in EV charging and as inductive coils for wireless charging. Notably, both the wireless and plug-in charging coils utilize the same magnetic core while ensuring no magnetic mutual interaction between them, optimizing efficiency and reducing complexity in the charging setup. This dual-function approach enhances convenience for users, allowing for versatile charging options in a single location.

Benefits

  • EV charging: This invention enables providing both inductive wireless and plug in EV charging at the same facility by adding a minimum number of components.

Applications and Industries

  • EV charging
  • Any application that needs simultaneous wired and wireless power
