CSMB User Program Overview

General user access to the Biological Small-Angle Neutron Scattering Instrument (Bio-SANS) is solicited through proposal calls, which correspond with upcoming HFIR run cycles. We recommend that prospective user groups contact us in advance of proposal submission to ensure feasibility.

Once submitted, proposals are peer reviewed by an external committee with expertise in research fields related to biological SANS. Applications to the Bio-Deuteration Laboratory (BDL) are screened for feasibility in parallel and access is provided to all users with approved neutron beam time proposals. Deuteration and sample preparation for these experiments can be challenging.

We are committed to working with the user community to coordinate Bio-SANS and BDL scheduling such that it enables successful experiments.
