Advanced Tokamak Physics

The Advanced Tokamak Physics Group, part of the Burning Plasma Foundations Section, seeks to establish high confidence, embodied in a validated modeling suite, in achieving high-performance, steady-state tokamak regimes in ITER and future fusion devices.

The group's vision is to drive forward the science and technology needed to construct a fusion pilot plant (FPP) as stated in the 2019 Community Planning Process Strategic Plan. The group works with ambition and urgency on three fronts: FPP development, transition to a new tokamak facility, and ITER.

The group also aims at participating in and lead an array of activities that embodies the community plan and promotes national coordination.
