Grid Systems Modeling and Controls

Grid Systems Modeling and Controls

The Grid Systems Modeling and Controls Group provides modernized or future power grid modeling, analysis, controls, and simulations. The group leverages expertise in power systems, power electronics, and control theory as well as computing technology to solve problems of electromagnetic transient stability for large-scale power grids with high penetration of renewables and power electronics. The group develops modeling and simulation techniques for large-scale electromagnetic transient events, analytical methods to evaluate system interaction impacts and uncertainties for emerging power grids, and robust grid controls.

The group’s mission is to support U.S. power grid modernization towards renewables integration, leading to resilient and flexible infrastructure for a sustainable, reliable electric grid.
