This paper presents the energy, economic, and environmental benefits associated with different heat-to-power technologies such as Thermoelectrics, Thermophotovoltaics, and Thermionics. Hybrid configurations consisting of heat pumps, heat-to-power systems, and renewable PV in cogeneration and trigeneration modes of operation will be presented. The role of such technologies in lowering the primary energy consumption, carbon dioxide emissions while improving the energy resiliency and serving the needs of underprivileged communities will be discussed. The key barriers of affordability and potential solutions for large scale implementation of these promising technologies are presented.
