A protic ionic salt based organocatalyst, triazabicyclododecane:trifluoracetic acid (TBD:TFA), was newly designed to sequentially and selectively deconstruct multiple condensation polymers that can be applied to the majority of existing mixed plastics today.
The developed selective deconstruction of mixed plastics offers a critical step toward closed-loop circularity of plastics and carbon neutrality.
