Raymond Borges is a leading Cyber Security researcher specializing in cybersecurity for cyber-physical systems, developing analytics for distributed systems, digital twins, and anomaly detection in microgrids. As Co-PI, his initiatives have secured over $5 million in funding, fostering collaborations with DUKE, EPB, the Office of Electricity, and the DHS Science and Technology Directorate.

Raymond's recent focus is on integrating Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) with power systems to enhance microgrid security and resilience. His notable work includes developing the Cyber Grid Guard (CGG) system, which uses DLT to ensure data integrity and confidentiality from intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) and customer-owned distributed energy resources (DERs). His efforts have demonstrated successful applications in protection, control, and monitoring within electrical substations.

He has also led the creation and commissioning of an advanced electrical substation grid testbed (ESGT) that integrates real-time simulators and IEDs, crucial for troubleshooting and assessing power system protection and communication applications. Additionally, his work on the CGG framework addresses critical supply chain vulnerabilities in the electric infrastructure by ensuring secure and traceable asset information.

Raymond has developed high-resolution emulated sensors like EmSense, facilitating experiments with smart grid and DLT frameworks. These sensors capture and process high-velocity data, essential for modern power grid applications. He holds certifications as a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), CompTIA Security+, Network+, and A+, and has taught courses for various certification exams.
