S M Shamimul Hasan is a research scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He is a member of the Advanced Computing for Health Sciences section at ORNL. Dr. Hasan received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Virginia Tech (VT) and graduated with an M.S. degree in Computer Science from West Virginia University (WVU). Dr. Hasan is doing interdisciplinary research in the areas of Graph Theory, High Performance Computing, and Healthcare Informatics. Dr. Hasan is a professional member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). Dr. Hasan received numerous academic awards including a Pratt Fellowship for Ph.D. study and a Scholarly Achievement Certificate for M.S. study. His research contributions have been the subject of wide media coverage.
