Modeling & Simulation Engineer

Steve Karman is a Modeling and Simulation Engineer in the Multiphysics Modeling and Flows Group at ORNL where he develops advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics methods. He is an aerospace engineer by education and training. He has worked in industry for Lockheed Martin, performed research as a professor at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and worked for a commercial mesh generation company Pointwise/Cadence Design Systems. His specialty is mesh generation methods. Several of the techniques he developed and researched have been incorporated into the commercial meshing program Pointwise. Steve is recognized as an expert in mesh curving technology that produces high order meshes for analysis by advanced Finite Element Methods. Steve Karman has written or contributed to numerous published papers, research reports, conference proceedings and book chapters. He received his B.S. and M.E. in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University and his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
