Manufacturing Systems Analytics Group

The Manufacturing Systems Analytics (MSA) Group resides in the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) where it focuses on designing, developing, and deploying machine learning and decision-science algorithms for advanced manufacturing applications. The group comprises researchers whose expertise spans mechanical engineering, image and signal processing, materials science, computer vision, data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

The group is collectively engaged in transformational research and development to address advanced manufacturing challenges across process understanding, process optimization, process prediction, and process control. As part of the Secure and Digital Manufacturing Section within the Manufacturing Sciences Division, the group’s research is supported by DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) through its Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO), DOE’s Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) through its Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Technologies (AMMT) program, as well as various other national security sponsors and industry collaborations.
