Accessing ITER Information
The international ITER project is developing a scientific fusion facility to produce, study and optimize a self-sustaining “burning fusion plasma” at power-plant scale. The operating flexibility, scale, and extensive diagnostics of the ITER tokamak compliments other efforts in fusion.
The United States is a member nation in ITER, along with the European Union (host), China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation. The ITER Agreement specifies that “the ITER Organization and the Members shall support the widest appropriate dissemination of information and intellectual property they generate.” Since its inception, the ITER Project has generated a massive amount of information that is of interest to other fusion efforts, including design, construction, fabrication, assembly, and licensing at scale. In recognition of the value of this information to private companies, universities, and laboratories, the DOE Office of Science (Fusion Energy Sciences) has tasked the ORNL Fusion Energy Division to support a procedure for dissemination of information and intellectual property generated by US ITER.

Information restrictions
ORNL Fusion Energy Division can only share information originating from US ITER (mainly related to US ITER’s hardware scope).
As a courtesy, we will forward requests for information originating from the ITER Organization (IO) or other ITER members to the IO. If you know the information you are requesting falls into this category, you are also welcome to make these requests directly via email to the IO’s Private Sector Help Desk.
