Burn victims may be spared the agony of today's treatment method with a technique being developed at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) that uses a lidar system and laser to map and automatically burn away dead tissue.
Lonnie "Curt" Maxey of the Instrumentation and Controls Division of the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is the recipient of the Arnold O. Beckman Award, presented by the Instrument Society of America.
