Making nanoporous polymeric fiber is very difficult. Foaming is an approach; however, that requires foaming agents. Besides, foaming agents creates large pores (500 micrometer). We aimed to obtain fibers with less than 500 nm pores.

Microfluidic systems use an apparatus called a chip on which channels for micro-flow are embedded in a materials such as glass, PDMS, some other polymer, or another material. Since the chip is under pressure some materials, particularly PDMS develop deleterious leaks.

Sealants used in building construction typically require that a primer be installed over the substrate before the sealant, which requires time and is difficult to verify that it was done properly.
